My first trade book, Wilderlands: The human history of wild Britain, will be released on 23rd April 2026, published by Faber & Faber.

Wilderlands is a 12,000 year journey through our relationship with the wild, examining what we think it is and why, and how it has changed over time. It is the backstory to debates about rewilding and pest control, and features woods, wolves, and will o' the wisps. The book came into being after someone asked me the simple question, 'When was Britain last wild?'. It was an irresistible topic and I had such a lot of fun researching, visiting, wandering and writing for it.
